      The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary is the civilian volunteer arm of the United States Coast Guard, 34,885 men and women who donate their time and expertise to support the Coast Guard and improve boating safety. Since its creation by Congress in 1939, the Coast Guard Auxiliary has served as the civilian, non-military component of the Coast Guard.
